How is the Housing Selection Number calculated?
Housing Selection Numbers are generated using a random number generator. All students who have paid the non-refundable $250 deposit are eligible to participate in housing selection.
Students are grouped by credits (90 or more, 89-60, 59-30, 29 or less). Then a random number is assigned to each student in the group. This random number is the order in which students will participate in housing selection. Selection numbers will be sent to your Newbury College email address on Friday, April 29, 2016.
What do I need to do to be eligible for housing selection?
To be eligible to participate in housing selection you must complete the following:
- Submit your immunization record
- File a FAFSA
- Be registered for a full-time course load
- Have no outstanding housing holds
- Have no outstanding academic holds
- Have no outstanding financial holds
- Have a cleared balance with Student Accounts
- Pay the non-refundable $250 housing deposit
Starting Monday, March 28 you will be able to log-in to Nethawk to see the “Housing Selection Checklist.” This online checklist will confirm what you have to do to be eligible for housing selection.
When are housing tours?

8:30 - 10:00 PM
On this tour, you will have the opportunity to view different room types in each upperclass residence hall.
Meet in front of the Student Center for the Housing Tours Shuttle. Shuttles will run between Main Campus, House Area (Audubon/Carlton), and Brookline Manor.
When and how can I pay my deposit?
If you have completed your “Housing Process Checklist” you can pay the non-refundable $250 housing deposit by credit card online or in-person by cash, check, money order, or credit card in the Office of Student Accounts in AC 001, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.
Is there a deadline for the housing deposit?
To participate in the housing selection process you must complete the Housing Selection Checklist and pay your non-refundable $250 deposit by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, April 27, 2016.
What if I’m one of the last people to deposit?
All students who have completed the online Housing Selection Checklist and have paid the non-refundable $250 housing deposit are eligible for housing in College sponsored housing for the fall semester. If available spaces fill up during Housing Selection Day, students will be placed on a housing waitlist. This waitlist will be used to assign students on a space-available basis during the summer.
What if I pay my deposit and don’t live on campus?
If you pay your non-refundable $250 housing deposit and decide to not participate in the housing selection process or live in College-sponsored housing then you forfeit your $250 deposit to the College.
Can I pay my deposit after housing selection?
Yes, you can pay your housing deposit anytime after you complete the online Housing Selection Checklist. If you do not pay your deposit by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 then you will not be able to participate in the Housing Selection Process on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. If you do not pick a room during the housing selection process, you will be assigned to a room on a space-available basis during the summer.
Is housing guaranteed if I pay a deposit?
Yes, any student who has completed the online Housing Selection Checklist and has paid the non-refundable $250 housing deposit is guaranteed a space in College-sponsored housing.
I’m a commuter, how can I find a roommate?
There are several systems in place to assist all students find a roommate. You can fill out a roommate matching card on the bulletin board outside SC 105, fill out the online roommate questionnaire, or attend one of our many roommate “meet and greets.”
