Apr. 19, 2017 – Newbury provides engaging alumni resources to ensure that you can remain connected to the College, even after graduation. The student experience at Newbury relies on alumni and other donors to help make important changes and updates to the campus—the Chawla Fitness Center, Student Success Center, classroom renovations and more would not be possible without the support of alumni and “friends” of Newbury. Your Newbury experience was made possible by alumni, which is why we encourage you to stay involved after graduation, especially as our alumni services continue to grow:
The annual auction/gala is in its 8th year. Starting in 2009, Newbury has hosted an annual gala/auction to raise money for a campus project—each auction purchase goes directly back to Newbury. Last year, the auction helped renovate the kitchens for The School of Culinary Studies. This year, the “Newbury Matters” Auction is raising money to create 21st century classrooms to enhance the career-oriented education Newbury already provides. The auction will be held at the Seaport Hotel in Boston on May 5th, 2017 and will include a silent auction, a variety of main auction items and other bidding opportunities. More information is available here – purchase tickets, browse the auction items and even bid on the live online items!
Leave your mark at Newbury with the Alumni Patio. Work is underway for the Alumni Patio project—a renovation of the current crumbling Mitton House patio. This feature will include a Newbury seal at the center (provided by the Class of 2017), bluestone pavers to replace the current tiles and granite block edges. Alumni can donate between $25 and $99 to help purchase the bluestone pavers or donate $100 or more to get your name and class year engraved on a granite stone. (Or get a group together to engrave a team, major, club or other group name and year.) More than $16,000 has been raised so far towards the project and there’s still time to make your donation! Click here to donate before June 30th, 2017.
Office of Advancement hires a new Alumni Manager. Tracy Ricciardi joins the Advancement team eager to form relationships with current students, alumni, Newbury faculty and staff. Ricciardi will be an asset to the Advancement office and Newbury in general, bringing new and creative ideas for alumni services. She says, “I am looking forward to meeting with students and alumni and learning more about their time at Newbury and how it has impacted their lives beyond campus. Additionally, I am looking forward to developing more opportunities for engagement so that these bonds remain strong.”
Ricciardi will be receiving her Master’s in Administration in Higher Education from Suffolk in May of this year and remains dedicated to providing a meaningful college education and alumni experience to all students. She says, “I knew that working for a mission-based organization was important to me and that accessibility to college is a vital, contemporary issue. It is so important that institutions like Newbury thrive so that students from all backgrounds can continue to have a rich college experience.” Newbury is excited to welcome Ricciardi to the College Community. Get to know Tracy! Stop by her office in the Mitton House Sunroom or send her an email at email@example.com.
