FAQ

Are reservations required?

Reservations are preferred for lunch and required for dinner to ensure proper seating. Reservations are granted on a first-come basis.

When is lunch service?

Café lunch service begins at 11:30am and concludes at 12:30pm.

When is dinner service?

Dinner guests are seated at 6:30pm. Please arrive in a timely fashion, as late arrivals may not be able to enjoy their meals in its entirety.

Can you make accommodations for allergies or other dietary restrictions?

We will make every effort to accommodate your request, when made in advance. Please inform us when you make your reservation. We cannot guarantee dietary accommodations when they are not made in advance.

Where are you located?

The Weltman Dining Room is located on the first floor of the Mitton House at 135 Fisher Avenue in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Do you serve alcoholic beverages?

Newbury College does not have a license to sell alcohol. However, guests are permitted to bring wine to accompany their meal. We do not permit beer, hard liquor, or fortified wines. If you do choose to bring wine, please respect the following limits: one 1/2 bottle (375 ml) per person.

What is the cost for the meals?

Lunch is offered as an a la carte menu, therefore, the cost of the meal varies depending on each guest. Typically, however, a three-course lunch with beverage does not exceed $18. Dinner is a multicourse tasting menu available for $35.

Are tips included in the bill? Can we tip?

Gratuities are gratefully accepted and directly benefit a scholarship fund for students in the School of Culinary Studies at Newbury College.

Do you include meal tax?

As we are a tax-exempt educational institution; no meals tax will be added to your bill.

Do you have a dress code?

Business casual is encouraged but not required. We request that guests do not wear jeans, sneakers or beachwear in the dining room.

Can you accommodate larger parties or special occasions?

We endeavor to accommodate special requests made by our guests – please contact us to discuss details further.

When I call, I get the voicemail.  Is there a time I can speak with someone?

If you would like to speak with someone directly, you are welcome to call during our live phone hours, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1p-2pm on days the College is open. Regardless, we endeavor to return phone calls as soon as possible.
