Nighthawks Expect Big Things from New Women's Soccer Program

Newbury College is excited to introduce the inaugural Nighthawks Women's Soccer season as an NCAA sanctioned varsity sport beginning this fall. The team will be led by Head Coach Debra Godbout who signed on with the Nighthawks to guide the program in its initial season.

Some key players that should make an immediate impact on the program include first year student Ashley Greene-Allen (Brockton MA/Brockton) who will be an offensive threat playing center midfielder for the Nighthawks and Anastasia Tridenti (Glocester, RI/Ponaganset) a junior transfer student who will help hold down Newbury's back line as center defender. Co-captains Jessica Jordan (Stoneham, MA/Stoneham) a sophomore center defender, and Michaela Lynch (Attleboro, MA/Attleboro) a senior goalkeeper, will also be key players for the Nighthawks.

The Nighthawk women's soccer team will play a competitive 17 game schedule in the 2007 season as a member of the NCAA, ECAC and Association of Division III Independents.

For more information on the Nighthawk Women's Soccer Program, contact Coach Deb Godbout at 617-730-7221 or email her at dgodbout@newbury.edu.

Coach

Debra Godbout was named the first Head Coach of Newbury College women's soccer program in August of 2006, as the Nighthawks prepared for the first varsity women's soccer program in the College's history in the fall of 2007.

Godbout was the assistant coach at Salve Regina University from 2004-2006. Here she helped guide the team to two playoff berths in the Commonwealth Coast Conference, one leading to the conference finals. She has extensive coaching experience at the high school and middle school levels. Godbout was a member of the Rhode Island Olympic Development Program coaching staff from 2001-2006. Along with coaching at Newbury, she is a head coach with Bruno United F.C. in Providence, RI and is also a member of the New England Revolution Academy coaching staff, in Foxboro, MA.

A Westerly, Rhode Island native, Godbout played collegiate soccer at the University of Rhode Island. She and the Lady Rams helped turn the URI program into a winning one that broke many program records including most wins in a season and the first post season berth and first conference playoff berth in the team's history. She graduated in 2002 with a B.S. in Human Science and Social Studies.
