Hannah M. McCarthy
The Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of
Hannah M. McCarthy as President of Newbury College. Ms.
McCarthy is President Emeritus of Daniel Webster College.
In addition to her many accomplishments at Daniel Webster
during her 25 year tenure, she has contributed to civic
life, chairing the New Hampshire Postsecondary Education
Commission and the New Hampshire College and University
Council. She led the strategic reorganization of both the
New Hampshire College and University Council and the New
Hampshire Postsecondary Education Commission during periods
of executive transition. She also served as a director of
the Boys and Girls Club of Nashua.
Ms. McCarthy earned her BA from Simmons College and did
graduate work in education and management at Rivier College
and Southern New Hampshire University. The recipient of
many honors during her career, she received honorary degrees
from St. Anselm College and Franklin Pierce College and
was recognized as the inaugural recipient of the CASE District
I Chief Executive Leadership Award in 2005 and the Business
Person of the Year Award from the Nashua Chamber of Commerce
in 2004. She is married to Phillip Rutledge.
