Steps for designing your weekly schedule:
- Rank the classes according to the amount of study time
needed.
- Referring to your schedule, block in the time you will
be in class.
- Now, fill in the times for other responsibilities (such
as dinner, work, and practice).
- After you have blocked out all your responsibilities,
look at available time slots. Fill in some of them as
study time.
Things to keep in mind:
-Pick times that are likely to have your best study conditions,
and try to study for your hardest classes then.
-Study at least 1 hour for the classes you will be attending
that day. If you have a Math and an Anatomy class on Monday,
then study at least 1 hour for each class on that day!
-It is NOT good to study for long stretches of time. Your
brain is like a sponge. It can only absorb so much. When
you break up your study time, you retain more material.
For every ½ hour that you study, take a five minute break.
- While scheduling study times, make sure you schedule
some down time for socializing and relaxing. If you do
this, you are more likely to follow through with your
commitments.
- Once you make your schedule, commit to following it
for a week. After the week, make any necessary changes
to the schedule and continue to follow it.
Good Luck!
