The Pre-Law concentration engages students in social, intellectual, and humanistic experiential learning that fosters the insight, understanding and sensitivity required of those engaged in the life and work of an attorney. The program prepares graduates who can comprehend, analyze, synthesize, appreciate, and utilize the ethics, concepts, and relationships of the legal system through an understanding of the institutions, procedures, and rules that allow society to govern itself. The Pre-Law curriculum introduces to students who plan to attend law school a sampling of basic courses that provide, through classroom learning and real-life application, a solid foundation for studying more advanced aspects of law. The program familiarizes students with the American legal system, the professional aspects of a law office, and the basic tools of research so that they can make informed decisions about their careers as attorneys.
