Mission
The School of Arts, Science & Design at Newbury College
engages students in social, intellectual, and humanistic
experiential learning that fosters the development of all
Newbury College students so that they might meet the demands
of contemporary life and work.
The School of Arts, Science & Design has developed
and adopted the learning objectives listed below. Students
who graduate from the School of Arts, Science & Design
should be able to
- demonstrate a breadth of knowledge in the arts and sciences
and a depth of knowledge in their chosen professions (Knowledge
/ Professional Competency)
- access, analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information and
complex ideas utilizing literacy and numeracy skills. (Critical
Thinking and Information Literacy)
- develop and utilize modes of communication that are appropriate
to the intended audience and purpose. (Communication)
- demonstrate writing competency in all areas of study. (Critical
Thinking and Information Literacy / Communication / Knowledge
/ Professional Competency)
- recognize and apply the lessons of history, culture, and
science to develop into individuals who are responsible
members of their communities. (Social Responsibility)
- define and apply ethical concepts appropriate to their
