“The unexamined life is not worth living.” Socrates

Our belief in the positive value that a liberal arts education has in bringing out the best in all of us, both personally and professionally, defines the selection of courses that students at Newbury College are asked to take. The School of Arts Science and Design provides courses to all students in the humanities, sciences and social sciences, in addition to offering degree programs in some of the practice areas of these disciplines.  Critical thinking, ethical awareness, learning about diversity and engaging in self-reflection are some of the hallmarks of classes offered by this school.  It is in these classes, that you can hear passionate debate about current social issues, values, aesthetics, literature, education, purpose, or in other words, life itself.  Law, justice, psychology, design, media and technology are some of the areas students can select for further specialization.
